The Mouse and the Lion
(Story Telling Version)
By: Subhan Shabri
One day, in a jungle, a lion was
sleeping. Suddenly, a tiny mouse passed in front of the sleeping lion bringing
some food for his children. Unconsciously he stepped on the lion’s head. He was
shocked and awoken.
“Haummmm!”, he roared very hard.
Knowing who disturbed his sleep, he caught the mouse. “How dare you disturb me
sleep. I was dreaming dating with a beautiful lion princess, you know? And it
disappeared because of you. As the punishment for you, you will be my lunch. Haummm!”
The poor mouse was very
frightened, he kneed on the lion. “I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry, Mr Lion. I
didn’t mean to disturb you. I was just in a hurry bringing this food for my
children. So, don’t eat me, Lion, let me go, please,....Lion. My children are
waiting for me. Please.......I’m begging you. Who knows one day I can give you
a good turn.”
“Haa ha ha ha ha!” the lion
laughed. “What thing that you can do for me, little mouse? But I like your
spirit and I feel pity of your children. Now, go away, hurry up before I change
my mind. Go..go...!”
“Oh, thank you very much, Lion.
I’ll never forget it.” The mouse ran. “Sorry, I left this food.”
Several days later, the mouse was
on his way looking for food for his children. Suddenly he heard the sound of
roar of a lion. “Haummm. Haummmm. Somebody helps me!”
“Hah, maybe it’s the lion, let me
see.” The mouse told himself.
“Haummm. Haummmm. Somebody helps me!” the
mouse saw the lion was in a trap net of a hunter. He was very panic.
“Don’t worry, lion, I will help
you.” The mouse began biting the rope of the net.
After getting out from the trap
net, the lion kneed on the mouse. “I’m so sorry mouse, I have underestimated
you. You did help me. Thank you very much, you have saved my life. Now I
realize that size is not everything.”
Well, my friends, it’s the end of
my story, and the moral lesson of this story is, “Never underestimate anyone.
Who knows he or she is better than you or can do something better that you can
do.
